Professor Justene Hill Edwards’ Savings and Trust: The Rise and Betrayal of the Freedman’s Bank (W. W. Norton, 2024) won the Virginia Literary Award for Nonfiction!

This is the FOURTH time that Savings and Trust has been recognized: It received the Harold F. Williamson Prize from the Business History Conference, was a finalist for the Hagley Prize in business history, and was shortlisted for the Mark Lynton History Prize from the Columbia Journalism School.
